Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Tigzi is a learn-to-read app for kids that turns photos into personalized stories. We are committed to protecting your family's privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Who this app is designed for
Tigzi is a parent-supervised children's reading and storybook app. Parents or guardians set up profiles, choose photos, manage permissions and purchases, and supervise their child's use of the app.
2. Information we process
No account registration is required. Depending on the features used, we process:
- Profile information entered by a parent, including a child's first name or nickname, age, language, avatar, and reading preferences. Most profile information stays on the device; name, age, language, and selected preferences accompany story-generation requests.
- Photos or images selected by the parent for story generation.
- Audio recordings created when read-aloud assessment is used. Real-time word highlighting may run on-device, but assessment recordings are uploaded for transcription and scoring.
- Reading and usage information, including reading scores, accuracy, reading speed, feature interactions, story identifiers, language, age, and app settings.
- Technical analytics and diagnostics, including a randomly generated app identifier, device and operating-system information, app version, crash/error information, and performance information.
- Subscription, entitlement, and referral information processed by Apple or Google and RevenueCat. We do not receive payment-card details.
3. How we use information
- Generate and personalize stories and word explanations
- Transcribe read-aloud recordings and calculate reading feedback
- Save profiles, stories, preferences, progress, and parent controls
- Provide subscriptions, restore purchases, and administer referrals
- Understand feature usage, diagnose errors, and improve reliability
- Protect the service, provide support, and comply with legal obligations
4. No advertising or tracking
We do not show third-party advertising, sell personal information, share information with data brokers, or combine app information with data from other companies for targeted advertising or advertising measurement. Tigzi does not access Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA). App information is not used to track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.
5. AI and media processing
Photos, relevant profile details, and read-aloud recordings are sent over encrypted connections to our processing service. That service normally uses self-hosted AI models. If it is unavailable or busy, a request may be processed by OpenRouter and a model provider available through OpenRouter. These providers process the request under their own privacy and retention terms.
Uploaded media is used to provide the requested feature, not for advertising. Temporary transcription files are deleted after processing. Story-generation jobs and results are retained only for the limited operational period needed to complete and deliver the request. Service logs may retain limited request metadata and error information for security and reliability.
6. Analytics
We use PostHog for app analytics and error diagnostics. PostHog receives a randomly generated app identifier, device/app information, feature events, and limited reading metrics such as age, reading score, accuracy, speed, and language. We do not send a child's name, photo, audio recording, or full story text to PostHog. This information is used only to operate and improve Tigzi, not for advertising or cross-app tracking.
On tigzi.app, Google Analytics collects standard website analytics such as pages viewed, device/browser information, and approximate location, subject to Google's privacy policy. If you submit an email through a website form, Formspark processes it so we can respond or send requested launch information.
7. Purchases
Apple App Store or Google Play processes payments. RevenueCat processes an anonymous app user identifier, purchase receipts, subscription status, entitlements, and referral attributes so Tigzi can provide and restore premium access.
8. Children's privacy and parental supervision
Tigzi must be set up and managed by a parent or guardian and used by children only under their supervision. A parent must choose submitted photos, approve microphone and speech-recognition permissions, manage purchases, and review the child's use of the app. We limit child-related information to what is reasonably necessary for reading and storytelling features. If information was provided without appropriate parental permission, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where applicable.
9. Storage, retention, and security
Profiles, stories, detailed reading history, preferences, and parental controls are stored on the device until deleted in the app or the app is uninstalled. Information sent to service providers is retained under their terms and only as needed to provide, secure, and improve the service or meet legal obligations. We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted transmission, but no system is completely secure.
10. Your choices and rights
You can deny camera, photo-library, microphone, speech-recognition, or notification access in device settings, although related features will not work. You can delete locally stored stories and profiles or uninstall the app. Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of personal information, or withdraw consent. We may need enough information to locate the relevant data and verify that the requester is the parent or guardian.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required.
